That compared with around $24.20 an ounce in late deals on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img width=\"812\" height=\"522\" src=\"https:\/\/kinesis.money\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Kinesis-Silver_2024-03-08_08-41-56.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-115076\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kinesis.money\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Kinesis-Silver_2024-03-08_08-41-56.png 812w, https:\/\/kinesis.money\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Kinesis-Silver_2024-03-08_08-41-56-300x193.png 300w, https:\/\/kinesis.money\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Kinesis-Silver_2024-03-08_08-41-56-150x96.png 150w, https:\/\/kinesis.money\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Kinesis-Silver_2024-03-08_08-41-56-768x494.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 812px) 100vw, 812px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Kinesis silver KAG &#8211; $\/oz &#8211; from Kinesis Exchange<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">US initial jobless claims figures were released Thursday showing a slightly higher than expected 217,000 in the week ending March 2nd. The latest figures come against a backdrop of comments by US Fed Chair Jerome Powell on Wednesday who indicated that interest rates have likely peaked, strengthening expectations that the central bank could begin cutting rates in the next few months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A looser monetary policy stance is bullish for precious metals prices as it reduces the opportunity cost of holding non-interest-bearing assets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Silver prices have also taken a lift from gold prices, which hit fresh all-time highs on Thursday of well over $2,160 an ounce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The US dollar has also been on a slide against other major currencies since mid-February, boosting the price of dollar-denominated assets such as gold and silver.
