That compared with around $2,161 in late deals on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img width=\"812\" height=\"522\" src=\"https:\/\/kinesis.money\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Kinesis-Gold_2024-03-20_08-46-09.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-116249\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kinesis.money\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Kinesis-Gold_2024-03-20_08-46-09.png 812w, https:\/\/kinesis.money\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Kinesis-Gold_2024-03-20_08-46-09-300x193.png 300w, https:\/\/kinesis.money\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Kinesis-Gold_2024-03-20_08-46-09-150x96.png 150w, https:\/\/kinesis.money\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Kinesis-Gold_2024-03-20_08-46-09-768x494.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 812px) 100vw, 812px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The relatively narrow trading range came as the US dollar made gains against other major currencies on Tuesday, putting downward pressure on dollar-denominated assets like gold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile the markets were in a more cautious mood after gold\u2019s hefty gains seen in the first half of March, which took prices to all-time highs of around $2,195 an ounce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The US Fed is widely expected to maintain the existing interest rate of 5.5% at its meeting on Wednesday, as the central bank works to bring inflation under control. There will also follow an announcement by the FOMC on its economic projections and a press conference later in the day.
